Background

The anthology is a dynamic, potent and chaotic representation of human activity – set as a contradiction to our nature. The book incorporates fragments of human development and becomes a standing question to whether all progress is positive. The re-occurring absurdity of progress being regress.

Design

Conceptual narratives were applied throughout the book to add a dimension to the storytelling and vision of Javier Barrios. We decided early on to play with the friction that occurs when man meets machine. Using Riso-print and heavily textured and tactile pulp for the book lay the ground for an imperfect finish, making every copy unique – determined by the machine. Further on we used Japanese chapter heads generated from Google translate, an analogue GIF, and an old SMTP-screen as a base for the grid. Limited run of 300 copies, printed in Mexico.
